Mickey Rourke on Grindhouse
Awhile back it was said that Mickey Rourke would be playing the head honcho in Quentin Tarantino's half of Grindhouse, Death Proof. Later that role was filled by Kurt Russel and so far there has been no reason given as to why Rourke didn't want the role. In a recent interview with Radar he commented on the situation.
"You know what? He hasn't made any comments about it. And until he makes a comment about it, I'm not going to say anything. It just didn't work out. And I hope that's what he has to say. I'm just going to wait."
The interviewer implies that Mickey turned the role down. A common practice for Rourke since he also turned down a role in a film you may have heard about, Pulp Fiction. I'm a big fan of Mickey Rourke and I was really excited about the prospect of seeing him in a full blown horror movie. Too bad he turned the role down, it could have been another perfect match as he played a terrific Marv in "Sin City".
