Halloween In the Summer?

One of the biggest franchises in the horror genre is most definetly Halloween. So whenever we get to see a movie sooner than projected its usually cool but I have also learned that in order for the genre to survive the studios need to smarten up when releasing the films. For example I guarantee had Universal released Land of the Dead in October it would have done big money.
It looks like Dimension is about to make that same mistake. They have come out and announced that they plan on releasing Rob Zombies redux of Halloween on August 31st, 2007. Why? My only guess is that they want to create some kind of summer blockbuster and than be able to release it on DVD by Halloween.
Its a very lame move in my opinion. Horror movies just can't survive in the long summer months. The summer belongs to the big budget crazy movies like Pirates of the Carribean and the Spider-Man franchise. I am hoping that Dimension change their minds and push the release back. Besides theres nothing like watching Halloween when the pumpkins are out.
