Neil Marshall's Doomsday Details!Goon
Neil Marshalls first foray into the horror genre was a huge success with the best werewolf flick I have seen since dare I say An American Werewolf in London. But there was always a question of course of whether this guy was for real or not so BAM. He his us with his next film The Descent which took the horror genre by storm. Next up on his slate is a new film Doomsday.
In Doomsday, a lethal virus spreads throughout a major country and kills hundreds of thousands. To contain the newly identified Reaper, the authorities brutally quarantine the country as it succumbs to fear and chaos. The literal walling-off works for three decades – until Reaper violently resurfaces in a major city. An elite group of specialists, including Eden Sinclair (Rhona Mitra), is urgently dispatched into the still-quarantined country to retrieve a cure by any means necessary. Shut off from the rest of the world, the unit must battle through a landscape that has become a waking nightmare.
As mentioned above Rhona Mitra was cast awhile back to play Eden Sinclair. Joining her Bob Hoskins will play Bill Nelson, a career policeman who nominates Eden for the mission and monitors its progress. Rounding out the cast are several alumni from Marshall's previous films, including Sean Pertwee, Darren Morfitt, Emma Cleasby, and Chris Robson, of Dog Soldiers; MyAnna Buring and Nora-Jane Noone of The Descent; and, from both pictures, Leslie Simpson and Craig Conway.
I think it is worth mentioning that Special Effects man Paul Hyett will be at Marshalls side once again. He had done all that kick ass work on the cave dwellers in The Descent so we know this guy is good. Marshall will also have several of his regulars back behind the camera as well. I guess he likes to know who is working on his film. Production is scheduled to begin on February 9th in South Africa and the U.K.
