Hellboy 2 The Golden Army Coming August 1st

Hellboy 2 has FINALLY gotten a release date. Its August 1st 2008. I have been anxiously awaiting the next film in the Hellboy franchise for quite some time now so I have been busy hunting down some news on the next film. Comics Continuum has heard from Mike Mignola and had some interesting tid bits to say including that one B.P.R.D. Agent will not be returning.

That Agent would be John Myers played by Rupert Evans. Apparently it is a character that del Toro created especially for the film so that movie goers would have somebody to relate to.

"He just didn't fit into the story. We worked on getting him in there. But it would have been the case where he was the young naive guy, can we come back to that guy five years later where he's turned into a bit more of a street-wise agent? For whatever reason, it didn't quite fit."

Principal photography is said to begin in April in Budapest and London. I am bummed Rupert Evans wont return since he did a great job in the first one.
