Shyamalan's Next Pic is Happening

Goon

After Shyamalan's recently panned film Lady in the Water he had a falling out with Disney and had to take his new script "The Green Effect" to someone else. Apparently no one in Hollywood liked the script and would not give it the greenlight. So Shyamalan took it back and reworked the script and brought it to Fox who approved it.

The script has since been renamed "The Happening" and is apparently going to be shooting for an R rating, a first for Shyamalan. The film is said to be a paranoid thriller about a family on the run from a natural crisis that presents a large-scale threat to humanity. Once again he will be working with a huge budget of $57 million with a big name in the lead role.

Shyamalan describes the move to the R rating to Variety, ""We talked about trying to get the kind of intensity that is present in 'Silence of the Lambs,' and the kind that Guillermo del Toro got in `Pan's Labyrinth.' The impact of the beautiful things in that movie wouldn't have landed as strongly if the film had not been R rated."
