Grindhouse 101 with Robert Rodriguez

Yesterday was the beginning of the SXSW Film Festival where Robert Rodriguez had a panel called Grindhouse 101. During this little class he revealed the winners of the grindhouse trailer competition and did a nice Q&A. During the Q&A he revealed alot of very cool details and lucky for us Cinema Blend was on hand to pass those along.

Firstly I'm sure if you have at least seen the Grindhouse trailer then you are aware of the faux trailer, Machette. According to Rodriguez he is very interested in turning into a full feature film. Apparently he was talking about it like it was a done deal and it is likely that it could go straight to DVD.

Something else that was revealed for the fans was Eli Roths faux trailer which is said to play before Planet Terror. From what is revealed it sounds like a lot of fun, "Eli tackles the one holiday never done up right by horror: Thanksgiving. Eli Roth’s Thanksgiving involves an ax wielding pilgrim who runs around town separating thankful Americans from their bodies. It’s also stuffed with all kinds of really sick sex and nudity. The whole thing peaks when a trampolining naked woman does the splits, and uh… well… comes down on a very large knife."

Yea well we probably won't be seeing that trailer in theaters, at least not without some heavy cuts. Also as I mentioned above he announced the three winners of the Grindhouse trailer competition. The winner was Hobo with a Shotgun followed by Maiden of Death, and The Dead Won't Die. You can check out the winner below.
