Aliens vs Predator Ready for Box office!
Pitting two Fox franchises -- whose six films have a combined domestic gross of $358 million -- against each other, "Alien vs. Predator" is taking advantage of two dedicated fan bases that have proliferated with the popular Fox Interactive video game of the same name. But unlike the original films' R rating, this time the two species will fight it out in a PG-13 world. An opening-weekend gross in the $30 million range would far surpass any opening from either of the franchises.
"Alien 3," directed by David Fincher and released in 1992, claimed the biggest opening weekend for the series with $19.4 million. "Alien," which debuted in 1979, commanded the largest total gross of $78.9 million, quite a feat when adjusted for inflation. In contrast, 1987's "Predator," starring Arnold Schwarzenegger and directed by John McTiernan, opened to $12 million and earned $59.7 million domestically.
My favorite out of the bunch has to be Predator 2, and the last Aliens flick. We will see what this movie pans out to be like!
