Craven Eyes Last House Remake Director
It has been a little while since we have heard anything about Wes Cravens remake to his directoral debut, Last House on the Left. The problem seemed to be getting all of the rights to the film. Now with that out of the way he is gearing up to begin looking for a director. Craven told STYD.com,
"We're trying to make a deal with a very interesting director [Dennis Iliadis], a Grecian director who did something called 'Hardcore' - about street prostitutes in Greece - that I think is an amazing film. We want somebody who is a real artist who can give it his own vision."
This remake will be the first project under Cravens newly created Midnight Entertainment. This new division will produce genre films with a budget under $15 million. Craven also mentioned the other projects that have been mentioned before as possible remakes, Shocker and The People Under the Stairs. Out of those two Craven said that The People Under the Stairs is the more likely of the two to be finished first.
Personally I don't know how they are going to capture the charm of The People Under the Stairs. That was really a movie about the times of Bush Sr. with some great acting. They are really going to have to make some changes to the original story to make that one work today.
