Eli Roth: The Most Loved/Hated Director
When we first started the online community at Horror-Movies.ca with a forum I was expecting to see alot of hate coming Eli Roths way. However I discovered that most people who had been visiting the site were in the same boat as I was. People who thouroughly enjoyed his first feature, Cabin Fever and his follow up Hostel. But recently something has changed.
On our message boards we have finally got some haters. What I find funny about the people who hate on the guy is that the only reason they really have is that his movies suck.. OK I can accept that you don't like his movies but why hate the guy personally? With someone like Uwe Boll I can see why. Boll has constantly come out and declared all internet people "idiots" and even in one rage hated on everyone in "Kanada". The other problem I have had with Uwe Boll is that he won't own up and say his films flopped.. He always seems to have some kind of excuse.
But now I am getting off subject. Eli Roth in everything I have ever seen him do is always doing it for the love of the genre. So what is wrong with that? Since when do fans begin to stab each other in the back? I have heard that some people think he is a "spoiled brat" but I don't really see where they are coming from.
As far as I know Roth has worked pretty damn hard to be where he is today. So is he now going off to direct some big ass action movie or leaving the genre? No. He loves this shit and lives for it. I guess this will always be a big mystery to me until someone can really point something out in particular that makes sense as to why all the hate.
