The Invisible Man Up For a Remake?

Universal Pictures and Imagine Entertainment have announced that they want David Goyer to write and direct a "re-imagining" of HG Wells classic novel The Invisible Man. The film was set up as a sequel to the novel centering on a British nephew of the original Invisible Man. Once he discovers his uncle's formula for achieving invisibility, he is recruited by British intelligence agency MI5 during WWII.

This leaves me scratching my head just a little. It sounds like a sequel but Goyer goes on to say, "I've always been a fan of the original H.G. Wells book as well as the Universal film and felt the property was ripe for reimagining".

I guess if anyone can do something like this David Goyer is the man to do it. With so much work under his belt with the genre I'm more than sure that he has the chops to write and direct this project. We'll be keeping a close eye on this project as it progresses so keep it here.
