Have You Seen Hostel Part II Yet?
Today Eli Roth made a statement about the less than spectacular opening weekend that Hostel Part II had. Even though the film has already made its money back it definetly was not a smash success. The worry has now become that studios will no longer support R-rated horror.
Roth commented, "This is your last chance to see one of my films for a while. If you haven't seen it, go now, because after next weekend the film will be gone from theaters. There are too many other summer movies coming in, so basically we get two weeks in cinemas, and then the film will live on DVD. I am not directing CELL any time soon, and I most likely will take the rest of the year to write my other projects. Which means I wouldn't shoot until the spring, and you wouldn't see a film directed by me in the cinemas until at least next fall."
It really comes as no surprise to me that they will yank Hostel: Part II from theaters. There are way too many huge summer movies coming out for the film to do well past this weekend. I think the biggest crime here was the fact that Lionsgate tried to release it during the summer. I really want to know whos bright idea that was.
So if you want to support R-rated horror or if you are an Eli Roth fan who hasn't seen the movie yet, you better get going. Grab a friend and be sure to get the word out that this is your last chance. I've seen it.. have you?
