Donnie Yen Cast in Painted Skin

International superstar Donnie Yen known for his roles in Jet Li's Hero and even had a role in Blade II has just signed on to star in a rare Chinese supernatural actioner, Painted Skin. The film is based on a story within Strange Tales of Liaozhai which is a book of Chinese classic tales. Kind of like Grimms Fairy Tales in the states.

The story is about a love hate relationship between a vixen spirit and a group of humans. The pic will be helmed by none other than Wilson Yip. You may not recognize the name but he directed Bio-Zombie and was also an actor in the Pang Brothers The Eye. Yip has directed countless films in China and is very well known in China. Andy Chin will co-direct.

Painted Skin will be a China-Singapore co-production with a budget of $10 million. Shooting will begin at the end of this year or early 2008. They expect to be able to release it at the end of 2008.
