Captivity Bombs! - HorrorMovies.ca

Captivity has bombed hardcore. It brought in less then $2million its opening weekend which invites the question why? The captivity review we have on site says the film is a horror fans wet dream yet it couldnt hold water in the box office.

I know that the Captivity Clips on TerrorFeed are fantastic for the most part. So the question becomes why did the film bomb? Were you not able to find a theatre playing the film? Was it because there were no early reviews? Did the bad MPAA buzz hurt the film? Or is it because as much as we might want to hear different the Horror Genre is a small market and R rated gore fests just wont make it in the box office.

My prediction from day 1 for Captivity was that it would bomb in the theatres, and then go on to make a fortune on DVD ( if its promoted properly ). I think the film concept is fantastic and is exactly what genre fans want, but I also realize that if Hostel 2 couldnt draw them in then captivity wouldnt either. What do you think?
