McFarlane Talks Spawn Reboot

Todd McFarlane's Spawn was once one of the biggest things in comics. I remember during the big boom of comics in the 90s Spawn was IT. You could see Spawn everywhere and it even became one of the best selling comic books. All of this attention meant a major motion picture, an animated series on HBO and plenty more.

Unfortunately the film happened WAY before its time and CGI was just not the way to go. But now Todd McFarlane is throwing the sequel idea out there again. Only this time no one is really digging his idea of what the Spawn movie should be. McFarlane doesn't want Spawn to talk and to just kind of eat up the scenery. His reference to what he wants to do is JAWS.

Here is what McFarlane said to MTV, "So it's sort of the same concept. I'm not going for Freddy Krueger horror and I'm not going for Spider-Man action superhero. I'm not even going for a guy who's going to sit there and talk. You're never actually ever going to see him in his cape or costume in any kind of direct light. It's just going to be this thing that's just going to come, and if it's there then buddy, you're going to have a bad day."

It sounds interesting and since no one is willing to jump on board he is going to do the thing himself. McFarlane plans on producing, directing and write the entire film. So who knows how far away something like this actually is going to be. But it definetly sounds like a ride that I want to be on.
