Doomsday Comic Con Panel
Another panel where not really too much came out of it except a really bad ass looking trailer. The Doomsday stuff as you can tell from the posters is very Mad Max looking. The trailer is pretty much the same way with car chases and guys with tatoos running all over the place. There is also a quarantine that happens in the footage that looks very impressive.
Unfortunately for this panel only Neil Marshall was present. I was really hoping that we would see someone like Rhona Mitra or Malcom McDowell surprise us. But it wasn't going to happen. So the beginning was a lot of talking about McDowell and how fantastic of an actor he is. Little mention of Mitra when someone in the crowd asked the question about what women in his life influenced him. No surprise here, his mother.
Surprisingly it came out that McDowell was only filming with them for a week. So despite being one of the characters on the poster we might not see a lot of him in the film. Also the issue of budget was raised in which he began talking about production value. He always manages to squeeze the most out of every penny spent on his films. He only had $6 million to make The Descent and with Doomsday he has $30 million so you can only imagine that this one looks like it had $100 million.
The last little bit that I'm sure most of you will be interested to know is that Neil Marshall has nothing to do with Dog Soldiers 2. While trying to get that movie made he was forced to sell the rights to another company. So that about wraps up all the big news from this panel. You can check out the audio interview we have with the man right here. Be sure to stick around for more coverage from San Diego Comic Con 2007.
