Darkchylde Image Hits
Forum member Jmh recently pointed out to me a new image for the upcoming film Darkchylde. I had seen the image around and to be honest I wasn't that interested. But I put on my sleuth cap and got my trusty magnifying glass to see if I could dig up any new information. The first mention of the photo actually appeared over at Newsarama not to long ago.
Darkchylde was a comic book that first began in '96 under Image, then WildStorm and finally ended up on Randy Queens Darkchyle Entertainment. During the 90s it was a number one selling comic book even outselling Superman and everyone else. The other mystery is where did this project come from?
No one really knows. But I did do some looking around and discovered that the woman cast as Ariel is actually Ashley Hartman. She was a contestant that mad the top 32 on American Idol Season 2. Richard Taylor and Weta Workshop will be working special effects on the project. As far as who wrote the script or is directing the project is anyone's guess.
The movie revolves around Ariel Chylde. She is a cursed southern teen who discovers she can become the creatures from her many nightmares. After this startling discovery, she must save her small town from the forces of darkness that she has accidentally set free.
Randy Queen expressed his love for this project to Newsarama, "I am very passionate about what I think works and what hasn't over the years. We have the A list team, and our expressed goal is to produce an original, beautifully shot, atmospheric horror film, played very straight and very dark, ala a modern Carrie or Ridley Scott's Alien, with a wicked, sexy cool Underworld vibe. Our only wish is to create a film for the horror fans of the world to get excited about, so everyone please wish us luck!"
So without to much else to go on we do have the photo that reveals very little except that it looks very Underworldish. Check it out..
