Director Chosen for Stepfather Remake
Variety says that director Stephen McCormick has been attached to direct the Sony Screen Gems remake of The Stepfather. We knew this one was coming because it was mentioned not to long ago as being a potential title to be remade. But why chose Stephen McCormick? The man who is bringing us the dreadful sounding PG-13 remake of Prom Night on April 11.. my birthday of all days!
Story centers on a teenage boy who discovers his new stepfather is a serial killer who has murdered multiple families. Script by Joe Cardone takes a modern spin on the 1987 thriller of the same name that starred Terry O'Quinn.
I will say that at least they are taking a film that I think most people don't hold in a very high regard anyway. I could see this one coming out better then the original if it is done right which is yet to be seen. Keep it here for more.
