The Eye Reshoots Meet Dracula

Foreign filmmakers on their US debut getting screwed over by US studios and producers every which way seems to be the latest thing to hit Hollywood. Though in this case its something special.

Fangoria got word that the Jessica Alba remake The Eye, helmed by Frenchmen David Moreau and Xavier Palud of Ils has been giving the ticket for two weeks of reshoots. Though Moreau and Palud are not the ones behind the camera. Patrick Lussier of Dracula 2000 and the in-name only sequel to White Noise, White Noise: The Light is directing. Here is where I mean this case becomes something special:

The studio behind The Eye is Lionsgate. This makes me very nervous as Lionsgate is a fairly genre friendly studio and doing this is something I wouldn't expect from them...from the Weinsteins sure, but not Lionsgate. But what makes me even more nervous is the fate of Midnight Meat Train, directed by Japanese director Ryuhei Kitamura. I have complete faith in Kitamura for making a scary as hell film, even so, I hope Kitamura doesn't get screwed over like this. The Eye is slated to be released on February 1, 2008
