House of a 1000 corpses was brought to us by some sick fuck called Rob Zombie. In 2003 he created and gave us this masterpiece to look upon as a serious horror movie and to be respected by all. The movie outlines the story about a group of kids that are making their way across the country but in the middle of this journey their minds go off track. The end up wanting to search for the mystery of this old tale about, Dr Satan, it doesn't go well when there kidnapped by a group of Physcos. Over in the UK the movie was not real mainstream and never managed to hit our cinema screens, it just came out straight on DVD with a DTS option. In the US it was loved throughout but surprisingly allot of people hated it the overall feel went down well and Roz Zombie was praised. Calling this a new horror would be wrong this movie was to pay homage to the 1970's style horror movie.

Staring Rainn Wilson, Chris Hardwick, Jennifer Jostyn, Erin Daniels, Bill Moseley, the whole cast gave a real fucked up performance. The movie gave the actors some sort of evil pill which they acted upon of. All the actors just turned into animals and trying to survive in the wilderness, it was very raw acting but not really any great stand out performances. Bill Moseley did stand out allot creepy looked so creepy and very strong, his performance made him look big and tall because he ain't that huge if real life, so his performance helped that along. His energy in the movie is great, with his long speeches and preaching looked real and like he had a real point to make, this was great, he looked like he believed in everything he said on screen. Sheri Moon did a great job also, she added a real sexiness to the movie which made you want her to fuck you over big time. Her high pitched laughs and energy at shouting everything out like a screaming 5 year old made it like creepy as they felt like retards. Overall the movie is not really praised for the acting its not that big of deal in the movie, its OK nothing special and wont be telling everyone i see that you should check out the acting in House of 1000 corpses.

The movie really looks like its a 1970's movie, its very country raw, i don't exactly know but its got the 70's slasher feel to it. The bad thing i noticed in the movie is the story line, its allot like TCM and I'm telling you its got the same sort of look and feel expect this movie has allot more colour and art. The feel of the movie is open helplessness in the country and makes you feel very on edge when you watch it. As i said the movie is very colourful with the carnival like house and although the movie its bright reds, blues and oranges, which makes a change from dark blood gore on the floor like usual. A bad point in the movie is where are brought to the under world of Dr Satan, it just looked so fake and like that would happen. Up to this point the movie felt real and serious and you could believe this could happen, but soon as the underworld came thats when i lost interest.

The s.e and gore in the movie is very satisfying, i wasn't hungry for gore in the movie as i had plenty to feast my eyes on. Theres allot of guts and gore, blood on the walls, gun shots, burning, stabbing's and brutal killings. Heads being ripped apart and alive surgery, what this movie ain't got is not much. The movie is colourful and the blood stains and heads just sit very nicely together and show up as a nice colourful different combination. The s.e in the movie was good allot of great gory killings like, the head ripping scene, that was fucked up. All the killings seemed to be creative and the director you can tell thought allot about them in detail, which is a good point when coming to make a horror fans dream. Great gore allot of limbs and nasty images makes me love the stuff included here.

The background music in the whole movie is very rocky, allot of heavy rock and death sort of music to make the freaks seem really hardcore and to make them look like they don't care. Very loud music which works for the type of energetic movie that it is. Sound effects were a strong point in the movie, as we see flesh tearing and stabbings going on the audio never lets down the images on screen and together they combined some great scenes.

Overall the movie is cool, allot of gore and violence, its a very hard movie. This movie is pretty scary, its hard to find movies that shock you today so you need to see this chiller. The only let down is its major connection to the story of the TCM, thats a let down big time. I'm looking forward to the new Devils rejects sequel to the movie, check them both out I'm sure you will love them as much as i do.
