House of the Dead 2 Review

I caught this movie on Sci Fi and let me tell you I am glad I did, I saved myself some money, but lost precious time off my life. Now hopefully I can save you from spending any money on this movie.
Let me start by saying I really wanted to like this, especially since I heard Uwe Boll was not making it. But like all bad movies, it is hard to make a horrible movie and have a sequel that shines bright. Like they always say you can't polish a turd, well they tried to anyway.
The acting in this movies is a lot more below par then I expected (which I have no idea what I really expected for a horror film like this). The characters were way to over the top, fat obnoxious guy who doesn't shut up, loser money minded horny guy, and lets not forget the A.M.S. agents one of them can not be killed by missles and the other one can out run the blast from a missle. They are a tough bunch I tell you. The only person I didn't mind acting bad was Captain Spalding (I know that is not his character name or him real name, but I love him in that role).
The effects were nothing more then what has been done before. Sound effects and music, well I can't imagine they had much of a budget to make it a good soundtrack, so you get the usual "B rated" horror movie soundtrack.
The basic outline of this movie is about as simple as it gets. a college campus gets turned into zombies due to some bad experiments done by the crazy professor. He tried to recreate the ressurection that he had heard about from him sons girlfriend (a survivor from the first movie, but not the same actress). Obviously he screws it up cause everyone dies on campus after the infection starts. But it isn't limited to the campus, just focused there. The AMS people along with some SWAT type military guys (which give military and/or SWAT guys a very bad name) go into the campus to contain the issue and look for the zero generation of the virus. They believe the virus can be reversed if it is found. I think you can get the understanding from that, I would not want to spoil the movie more then I already have for those of you that must watch a horrific horror film no matter what other people say.
In closing I think that if you were to compare it to the original, I would... and I hate to say this, probably prefer the original. At least it had something to laugh at. This movie made be want to shut it off after the first 20 minutes and I fought myself the entire length of the film just so I could say I have endured such a horrible movie.
