The Fog (2005) Review

3 out of 10 Skulls

When I initially heard there was a remake of this film coming out, I had mixed feelings about it. I thought how would a recent version of the film be like to a newer audiance and if they could improve the movie in anyway. I thought that the original was a good movie (not great) and I was kinda amped on seeing the changes that were made in this version. After seeing this movie though, I was kinda wishing I didn't.

This movie was purely made for viewers in their early teens (hince the PG-13 rating). Anybody who hasn't seen niether movie should go to their local video store and rent the original. It isn't great but you'll get more of an enjoyable experiance out of this one, the remake was garbage.

Nothing in this movie sticks out to me, nore do I remember anything important that happened (probably because nothing important did happen). The plot was also changed slightly and not for any good reason. On the anniversary of the founding fathers of a small town, a creepy fog rolls in inhabited by the ghost of pirates looking for revenge for what was done on the anniversary of the founding fathers. Nothing about the movie was remotely scary or creepy. My fiance is easily scared and she damn near fell asleep through this crap.

At the climax of the film they try to have a twist ending, which dosen't work and only makes the movie even stupider. In short, I really have nothing good to say about this film, the acting was bad, the story line didn't work, the special effects were lame and this movie was just plain gay. Like I said before, see the original, you wont have nightmares, but you wont be bored out of your mind either. Two thumbs way down!!
