The Texas Chainsaw Massacre Review

10 out of 10 Skulls

One of the all time best horror films of all time. This is the film that laid down a great foundation for all films after it. This is the film that made Tobe Hooper what he is today in the horror genre.

Often imitated but never duplicated this film was the first of its time when it was released in 1975. Despite the film being made in 1974 it took over a year to finally get it into theatres. Everyone has at least heard of this movie. Even people who don't like horror movies at all know of TCM. One of the strongest points of this film is the atmosphere it creates. The image of Sally Hardesty being chased around by a inbred, deranged family deep in Texas will never be forgotten by fans of the series.

I also find it funny that most people who have never seen the movie or "claim" to have seen talk about how bloody it is. When in fact there is hardly any blood at all. Its all in your mind. For Tobe Hooper to create that illusion is amazing and he will be forever remembered by fans of the horror genre.
