The Fog (2005) Review

Well it's hard to know where to start really, being a real fan of the james herburt book and the later the john carpenter adaptation of which i was a huge fan. I had to admit i was dubius at the thought of a re-make of a classic peice of horror moive history,I must say that when i heard that Tom Welling of Smallville fame was cast in the main role that i was'nt to sure of the way the he would come across.
To my mind however he put in what can only be described as an adverage performance, given his time on the hit show he showed little of the presence he has previously , that said though he stood out against wot could only be described as a cast of automatons. The main theme of the movie was however kept as close as it could be without being labeled a carbon copy, because for the new generation of horror fans most of which being used to the likes of films such as scream etc would'nt have understood the brooding darkness of capenters classic.
They were fed the usual mix of weak suspense and lots and lots of screaming, The special effects however were not to bad epscially the way the leperuosy was past from the ghosts to the living which i thought was a nice touch. Over all my verdict not that it matter, is the film like the lead perfomance was average, watcable but not in the least memerable.
