Ah yes, chapter 2 in the Evil Dead series, which brings up the question, "is it just another shitty sequel?" The answer is of course no, this is one of the movies that breaks the sequel curse. It is as good as the first by far. I recently went back and watched this movie again (along with the first one) and I loved it. The movie takes one of the greatest actors of all time (Bruce Campbell for those who haven't seen it) and throws him back in the cabin in the woods once again.

To start off, the movie pretty much leaves off where the first one ends. Then a similar scenario ensues, people are visiting the cabin and begin to be possessed by demons. What is so great about this is, that the characters have actually gotten smarter than they were in Evil Dead. They were believable, and Bruce gives an awesome performance as Ash once again.

Sam Raimi did an awesome job with this film, he had all the perfect setups for some good laughs and good gore. The whole scene with Ash cutting his hand off actually had me laughing, and him taking out the possessed people was just great. The ending was funny too because it was a perfect lead into Army of Darkness, I just loved it.

But the SFX are just plain awesome, there is so much blood in this movie. And it looks good, so does the gore in the movie. I'm not going to give too much away but there is some really good gore, like the whole hand scene is just gruesomely funny.

I wasn't too impressed with the music, it fit the movie fine but it could've been better. That was my only real problem with the movie, it fit fine, it just wasn't my taste. But don't let that stray you away, it works with the movie fine and keeps the pace up. All in all, a very great movie that is worth buying.
