UK has always glow with dramas, but when it's time to talk about comedy or horror, well, l'd prefer to see if there's another think in cinemas...  After the disapointing of THE GATHERING (2002) l swore not to se their movies anymore. THE DESCENT, however, came refreshing and brilliant into cinemas, giving the horror scene a good face between too gore movies and girls yelling.

With unexpected twists and lots of surprise factors, THE DESCENT developes a great women story, and tough it gives predectible clues, the way things go on is really nice to see. Actings are great.  You just love the characters and even the things around Juno, you can also love or hate her in minutes.  The rest ones are great too, they appear to be real enough and the way they react comes perfectly understandable, they never become instantaneous superheroes, on the contrary, they display diverse emotions and reactions that flow with coherence.

Focusing on the development of the story, l just have one word: brilliant.  I have to admit the movie reminded me a lot to Alien, the claustrophoby, the enviroment... but this one moves diferent and has enough diferent kind of scares in the first part than in the second one. Cinematography goes great.  The lack of light really makes the movie even more claustrophobic and realistic.

If there something l didn't like from THE DESCENT is the weak reason for the humanoids.  They appeared from nowhere and they were like this all the time, for years, nobody noticed them and they live happy in their comunity... that was bad point, l hoped for a more logical explanation (eg- THE HILLS HAVE EYES), but despite this, all the movie was great. I'm waiting to see the US final, the UK one was confusing enough, but great anyway, and l wonder if there was a big twist or it was just edited... l really hope it may go for better, at least the great new poster looks awesome, maybe the final will take this line too.
