The Redsin Tower Movie Review
Written by: Goon Toe Tag Pictures are well known for their first two films August Underground and Mordum. Both of those films really have no plot and pretty much just consist of torture and outrageous gore. Many of Toe Tags detractors have said that they could never develop a decent script into a great overall films. Well I'm here to tell you that they can and they have with their most recent endeavor The Redsin Tower. Just to give you an idea of the kind of movie you are about to see, the title sequence has a couple of tits in it. Now to be honest I thought that was a bad sign, seeing that they were trying to be taken more seriously as a force to be reckoned with the horror genre. But luckily I was mistaken and the movie takes off from there. Kim, the girl from said title sequence, breaks up with her boyfirend of 6 years Mitch. Unable to cope with the break up he goes into maniac/stalker/whiney bitch mode and instantly turns into a madman with a mission to get his girl back no matter what he must do. Kim heads out shortly after the breakup with a group of her friends to party at the local "scary" hangout, the Redsin Tower. From there madness ensues with hatchet mayhem, possessed pregnant women, and yes, even maggot vomit. This is the best movie I have seen all year. I was just totally floored by this film and did not expect Toe Tag to through something at me that would actually get me worked up. I had thought that after all these years of watching horror films I had finally become jaded and was no longer able to be scared from a horror film. Yea I may jump at some points in films but that kind of thing won't scare you when you get home. This movie really put things on the screen that will haunt your memories for some time to come. When it comes to Toe Tag you can always count on some terrific effects. These guys are definetly up and comers in the FX department and don't be surprised if you see these guys getting contacted by some major studios sometime soon for their work. The most effective scene for me was the possession of Kim. For a couple seconds she looks straight into the camera with her milky white eyes and grotesquely rotten teeth. I haven't seen a better possession done in any film period. But don't worry the film is alot more gruesome than I have lead on including a scene done completely on camera when someone meets their demise by hatchet. The acting in this film is the best you can get from a bunch of newcomers. I was completely surprised by how well the entire cast delivered their performances. Usually in most independent films the acting is very poor to non existent but this film really pulled out the stops. The director really did a good job in making sure that every single one of the actors gave their best performances. The only question I was left with when this film was over was "When can I buy the DVD?". This is the most bad ass film I have seen all year. Yes, every film Hollywood, independent, and anything inbetween. If this film is playing anywhere near you in the coming months DO NOT MISS IT! I am eagerly anticipating the DVD release and hopefully it will be getting superior treatment for some kind of theatrical run.
