I walked into this film expecting to be wowed based on the many comments found here. I walked out of this film satisfied. High Tension drags you kicking and screaming straight back to the traditional terror you would normally find in an underground exploitation film. Intensely bloody, intensely nerve-wracking, and intensely scary, this film holds nothing back.

Marie and Alex travel to the farm of Alex's parents in search of some quiet study time, but their evening is interrupted when a murderous stranger comes calling. He is ruthless and leaves no survivors except for Alex who he wraps in chains to take with him and Marie who he didn't know was there. Marie is determined to save her friend and embarks on a journey through madness in order to do so.

We watch helplessly as he slashes his way through obstacles leaving behind a trail of gore and violencce that should please even the hungriest of hounds. I found myself curious as to his motives, only to discover that his reasoning is more shocking than I could have ever imagined. High tension has little dialogue comparatively but more intensity than most. There is an interesting mix of dubbing and subtitles of which I always prefer the subtitles.

 I found that they did not detract from the action or story at all for those of you who are concerned. I'm afraid not everyone will enjoy it. I heard several groans of disappointment around me but they did not come from me. I was very pleased to see that I can still walk away happy after so many recent misfires within the genre.
