Toolbox Murders 2005 Review
Written by: Tonya Maddox
This movie is really good. The old building and location that is used in the movie gives off a sense of fear and uncertainty that really sets the mood for horror. Each prop used in each scene of the movie plays into the effect as well, creating a feeling of anticipation. For instance, in the first scene, the night has fallen and it is raining and you find yourself walking inside this enclosed little newspaper stand wrapped in plastic overthrow. There is a shady character inside handing you a newspaper and in the background there is a red light flashing from a ambulance that is hauling away a victim. This scene by itself built a expectancy that someone or something was going to jump out and grab you. This effect is consistent throughout the movie, so try to hang on to your seat!
Also, the story line is very intriguing, unique, and full of suspense! There is a bit of mystery to this movie that will keep you interested. Throughout the movie you will find a lot of Texas Chainsaw style. So for all you TCM fans out there you have to see this one! The actors did a excellent job.
I was shaken by the actors looks of terror and their shrieking screams! I also appreciated the way the directors allowed you to get acquainted with each character. The directors view the characters personalities, along with their lifestyle. It was a nice touch, unlike the mindless targets of most horror films. The characters that were used in the movie helped make the story become more believable. The movie is excellent, I would see it again, but next time I do I will leave the lights on.
