Pet Sematary Review

Pet Sematary This Stephen King Classic is just phenomenal that kept me on the edge of my seat as I was in for a bumpy ride and it was going to hurt the viewer, the aspect of this movie is to keep a grip on you, and a will to suck your fear up all in and as soon the movie is over the fear will be pushed out. Dr Louis Creed, and Rachel and their 2 children Ellie and Gage had just moved to a country town in Maine the reason Louis has a job as a doctor at the university near Ludlow, Maine, On his 1st day Victor Pascow a student gets hit by a truck Louis tries to save his life but dies. But little known fact there is a strange feeling in Ludlow and catastrophic happenings begin and when Judd tells Louis Church (the cat) had been ran over and killed by a truck.
He is ridden with shock and guilt and not knowing what to tell Ellie (the cat’s owner). Louis and Judd go to an Indian burial ground to lay Church to rest to save Ellie the tears and hurt that she will feel if Louis tell’s Ellie the bad news. Victor Pascow The student that died appears and tells Louis what to do and not to do somewhat like a guardian angel. I loved the way this story opened up I can say this was not his best work but hell every Stephen King movie leaves me in knots with shock and I love Church the cat he stands out in the movie Like a dark shadow. This movie provides a twisted look at why people cannot accept death but to bring them back one way or another, but…
However, when the cat returns, it is not the same cat, it is very vicious indeed but it has 2 sides and what made me look in awe was when Louis was about to break the news to Ellie until Church comes in the room. Ellie says “Church smells, can cats have shampoo,” I thought that line was real cute. This movie has so many heart stoppers and is one of my fave scenes is where Gage slaughters Judd how a 2 year old kid can become a murderer is horrifying to say the least. Pet Sematary is one my Stephen King favourites of all time, and what shocked me and left me in tangles is the scene where the family and Judd is on a picnic outing…
Gage wanders onto the highway and is killed instantly by a speeding 18-wheeler. The atmosphere at this point left me speechless…. and to think an innocent 2 year old child killed instantly that scene literally gave me the heebie jeebies. And how Ellie dreams of happenings back at home (Maine) while she is with mommy in Chicago, Ellie dreams of happenings that happen at the same time and calls her daddy (Louis) to make sure everything is ok I know it sounds freaky but it is true Louis has to lie to Ellie to not let her know what Louis is doing and Rachel feels something bad is happening so she comes back to Maine but Judd warns her not to but its too late.
Stephen King wanted this movie to be filmed in Maine (his hometown) and it was one hell of a location to pick and the scenery around gives the movie a creepy and eerie outcome. And my fave scene in this movie had to be where Gage came back to life by his father and not to be an angel to everyone… but a little devil, and how he kills is gruesome and sickening, just the way I like it to be, a little on the edge, a little uneasy a little cold and calculated, and when he (Gage) kills Judd that was so gory and awesome to see. By a long shot this movie is very disturbing to say the least I was highly amazed at the amount of gore and reality in this movie at some points I thought it was reality TV but its just a movie but not any old movie a “CLASSIC” which will never fade from my memory ever. Stephen King’s role as the minister at Missy Dandridge’s funeral as a cameo went perfect and he fit in so perfectly. And this bedazzles me is to this day in Germany this movie has been banned there since it’s release way back in 1989. And being a Stephen King fan for a number of years this However should had more detail in the movie but at the end of the day I am satisfied with the final print.
And became to be one of his many best selling movies of all-time. People love this movie some people hate it personally this is one of my favourite Stephen King movies. But we are all entitled to our opinions, my last notes I felt sorry for Gage when his dad gave him the lethal injection in the neck that he knew he was wrong and when wife was brought back to life and they both kiss and what happened after was thrilling to see and what disappointed me in this move was that….
George A Romero was willing to help Stephen King out with this movie by giving some “ZOMBIE” tips but he had a falling out with Richard Rubenstein but that is a rumour an unknown to be true. I would have to say the acting was gripping and effective they all try their best but it surprises me in the outcome very well done, emotional and a ride word for word and the directing by Mary Lambert is very good to see some scenes are not pictorial but it just keeps you intact with what is going on. The FX used in this movie is absolutely stunning how Victor Pascow appears and disappears and the house where it’s all burned and moss is everywhere, but its an illusion a good trick on a persons mind. And mind games are used a few times in this movie too and if you have never seen this movie I recommend you get down to your local video store demand that you want this movie tonight! Because you will be in for one hell of a gripping hell of a ride and watch out for the shocker of an ending you will never see it coming and you wont I tell you will not see it coming. True fact: After making $80 million dollars in America in theatre and video rental sales this is one of Stephen King’s highest grossing movies of all time.
