Hot Fuzz Review

9 out of 10 Skulls

Being a huge fan of Shaun of The Dead I could not wait to see these guys' next outing as a cop duo in Hot Fuzz. I expected over the top action, and funny one liners but what I did not expect was a fair amount of the red stuff as well. The story is about officer Nicholous Angel who is such a great cop he makes all the other cops in London look bad so they transfer him to a little village that is supposed to be the safest village ever. Reluctantly he takes his new post and on his first night ends up arresting a fellow officer for drunk driving of course they end up partners.

The conversations they have are really funny and then the deaths start. They start out like accidents but officer Angel knows better and this is where as the viewer we get to see some really nasty, bloody kills. Also we get introduced to the villin, a mysterious person in a black hood and cape. There really isn't much of a twist that you can't see coming but I won't spoil it none-the-less. All I can say is prepare yourself for roughly a 45 minute gun battle at the end. The only downfall I can see with the movie is that the running time is a bit long.

I feel they could have quickened the pace a little in some places and would not have lost anything. There is a lot of the quick cut editing like in Shaun but not really enough to be annoying or to dilute the story. The dialog is fantastic and the FX are top notch. This probably isn't the best movie for family hour but with some friend is the perfect entertainment. If you are a fan of SOTD, action movies, blood and guts, and one-liners then pict this disk up, it is definately worth it.
