Day of the Dead Review

Day of the Dead, was once again, a long awaited sequel to Dawn of the Dead. And although I really liked the film, it wasn't as great as the first 2. The dead have completely rocked the world...and it seems there are not too many survivors left, save for the soliders and research team in an underground complex. Sarah is in charge of the research team, and the research is carried out by Dr. Logan. The entire base is under the command of a tyrannical Captain named Rhodes. Rhodes also doesn't believe in the research, and feels it's a dead end street.
However, Dr. Logan has gotten some pretty decent result from a zombie he has named "Bub" (Howard Sherman) ; Bub knows how to shave, slightly speak, pick up a phone, and even salute. But Rhodes couldn't care less. And soon it becomes apparent that Sarah, her friends, and Logan are all in grave danger. And that danger comes sooner than later when Rhodes finally snaps and executes Logan, and then sets out to make Sarah and her friends into a meal for the dead. But through some really bad situations, Sarah and the others make it out.
And what of Rhodes? Rhodes finds out the hard way that Bub doesn't like him...and has a gun. I really did enjoy the film, and it's a great installment...if only Romero could have shot the full version he had set out to make! -Shawn Staggs
