I was in attendance at the Cinema Wasteland convention when Joe Knetter genre author and actor screened Pajama Party Massacre for a room full of horror fans. Joe was also kind enough to serve up a shot of alcohol to get everybody in the mood for what type of short they were getting themselves into. Pajama Party Massacre does not try to be anything that it is not. They knew what they were going to do and they did it. A short film with boobs, blood and a slasher. All ingredients that work great when combined together.

Basically if the title doesn't give away what the movie is about I shall lay it out for you. Two girls are up eating ice cream and scaring each other with tales of killers from the previous two films. As the night goes on the girls unwind and the killer finds them and well you should know what goes down. It's definitely a fun ride and they did everything they could given the budget they were working with which was like $300.

Bottom line to this short film is if you don't mind a cheesy, b-movie slasher with some nudity thrown in for good measure you are in luck. The only real way to make this one any better would be to add some more chicks, get a bigger budget and make it a feature. It definitely felt like it was just a teaser of something much bigger to come at some point.

After watching the short I was informed that one girl they had lined up dropped out and unfortunately their FX man left as well. Despite all those problems I really think they did the best they could under those circumstances. Especially with the FX which I thought were actually very nice. They did quite a bit off screen but it worked as a perfect kind of homage to Friday the 13th probably without even knowing it. But don't worry there is blood and even a really bad ass decapitation.

Could it have been any better? Probably, but not without a larger budget and having a longer shoot.  What I really liked about this film was the killer. He has a really kick ass looking mask and his makeshift weapon is something you don't want to be on the receiving end of. While at the show Joe Knetter revealed to me that he did indeed shoot a full frontal nude scene as a joke.. So if an uncut version of this film does surface.. Brace yourself!

Bottom line is this is the perfect short film to just pop in with a couple buds and some ice cold beers. Laugh it up and enjoy the slaughter.
