Ghost Train Review
Written by: jbeannie
Ghost Train Directed by Takeshi Furusawa, (aka: Otoshimono, Lost Property). I'm about to give the movie away, so, don't read this if you haven't seen this movie. It starts with Nana's son, goes to the train station, where he meets a ghostly-figure, which at the time, look's like a normal lady with a black outfit, which I think look's something similar to Death's(aka: The Grim Reaper) outfit.
The reason he see's her is right-now-so-far, because of this item that the son is holding in his hand, that item being a train pass of some kind. I'm going to try to make people get a better understanding of this movie, by
making some stuff up, that some people may agree/disagree with about the movie.
So, remember the train pass, and the train station, both allow you to be able to have a connection with this death lady (I like to call her death lady, so, that's what I will be calling her, from now on). So, the son of Nana, (I call him son of Nana, because I don't remember his name), is fearful, so, one wonder's why, besides the fact that he saw and talked to death lady
Son of Nana, goes to talk to his Mom (aka: Nana), about death lady,
he says to her, that this death lady said that he was going to die soon,
which is why the son of Nana has fear, and fear still. His mother denies it, and the son of Nana is still un-sure about it. For some reason the son of Nana goes back on the train, where the death lady later is sitting next to him. I think the son of Nana doesn't notice that the death lady is sitting next to him, or it might be, that once someone has an item of the death lady, the death lady is with that person at all times, with or without that person noticing it, or if the death lady so chooses to be with that person, the person bearing the death ladies item. The son of Nana eventually wants to leave the train, I assume the son of Nana was going to a destination on that very train.
I think the train stops short of the destination, I'm not sure by how much,
and this worries the son of Nana once the door's open short of the destination, as if all of this was done by a super-natural force. The son of Nana take's his time to get off the train, which the death lady must of known, because the death lady grabs the son of Nana, and drag's him to some unknown location, I'm assuming the location is off the train.
Then eventually notices that her son is missing for quite some time, and eventually puts up a Missing Son Flyer in that same train station, that her son was missing for quite some time in. This movie was filmed in the same train station that someone committed suicide in, in the movie that person that committed suicide in the train station that the movie films a majority of the time, is the name of the train station in the movie. You should notice the color black on everyone of the Train Missing People Flyers, I will discuss this later.
The son of Nana is actually named Fukuda Takashi, that sound's similar to the Directors name Takeshi, strange coincidence. Also anyone in the movie who pick's up the bus pass die's. Also know that Nana has a daughter named Noriko, and Nana's mom is in the hospital, Nana's Mom has some sort of illness in her Moms heart as well . You'll also notice that Nana touches the Missing People Flyer, and notices the color black on the Missing People Flyer.
Mizunashi is the name of the Train Station. Then the character's Shunichi , Kanae, and friend's are on the Mizunashi Train. Shunichi picks up a bracelet, this bracelet will later explain people's death's, people who wear it, eventually die and other people as well. Mizunashi Train Station is cursed by a certain Item, that is destroyed near the end of the movie to get rid of the curse.
You might while watching this movie want to change some thing's in the movie to something else to make the movie creepier, such as the death lady can possess item's such as Train's. But why not cell phone's, or even shadow's? So, yes this movie could have had more creepier elements in it, some might even want thing's to pop out of nowhere, just because of the bore of something not happening. Also one might wonder why later on in the movie, some of the ghost's move like spider's. The way this movie was filmed is really good, the camera angle's and everything film-wise. The acting could be better, I think some of it is all right.
Know that the death lady can possess thing's for certain reason's, people associated with someone who wears the bracelet, and people who have touched one of the death ladies item's. The movie has somewhat of a book mystery element, you figure stuff out as the story goes along, the movie has a story line to it, and it isn't too complicated, but it make's more sense if you re-watch it.
You will notice the boy-friend possession, and warning, and Train possession, a girl's mom in the movie has the bracelet on, and falls off a ledge, on-to a train, and obviously dies, that mom is that babies mother, and that baby of that mother, is the only one that can kill the death lady. Takeshi might be Nana's son, if not, it's better to pretend he is, to make a better story-line.
Half of the movie is a story-line, some make you jump scene's, at least one,
and minor creepyness. Some may notice similarities to Friday The 13th movie's and Final Destination when watching this movie. I also think the theme of this Japanese Horror Movie is do not take what doesn't belong to you.
That about cover's this entire movie, if anyone feel's different about this movie, please write a separate review, so, that I may know what you think of this movie, maybe there's more to it, that what I've written about it, not sure if there is, but there might be. This movie also has a happy ending, not many horror movie's do. If there is other stuff in the movie, I probably don't know why it's important. Also the props in the movie is the reason for the 10, because the prop's play an important role in defining the story-line of this movie.
