Wrong Turn 2: Dead End Review

This flick is very comparable to 20th Century Fox's other mutant cannibal sequel "The Hills Have Eyes 2". However, while it's just as goofy, "Wrong Turn 2: Dead End" is definitely more gory! For what it's worth, I'd say this is a satisfying direct-to-video horror film. In comparision, "Hills 2" was a mediocre theatrical release which I gave only 6 skulls out of 10.
I haven't seen the original "Wrong Turn", but this follow-up is a simple slasher flick which follows the rules of "Friday the 13th": a group of young people take a trip out to the woods and than are killed off one-by-one in grotesque, inventive ways. The murders include death by knives, arrows, hatchets, shotguns, TNT and more! This version of "Friday" spoofs "Survivor" and stars Henry Rollins (Feast) as an ex-military commander who leads the cast and crew of a reality pilot TV show into cannibal territory. His final scene is a bloody good one and so is the finale, but the first gory sequence in the movie is probably the best one! You'll have to see it to believe it.
If you have seen any film that features cannibals, than you'll probably be familiar with this material. However, know that "Dead End" works if you're in the mood for a cheesy, low-budget gorefest.
