Murder Party Review
Written by: Hard2Kill
Well I had a good weekend watching some movies, tried to go see 30 Days of Night but didn't make it so I decided watch some new horror I received on DVD in the comfort of my living room with some red vines and microwave popcorn. First up was Murder Party, an indie flick that had been covered on this site a while back. The movie tell the story of a loner, kind of quiet nerdy guy that finds an invitation to a (you guesssed it) a Murder Party. At first he is going to spend Halloween sitting in front of the tube eating candy corn watching spooky movies but then he decides to make a costume and go check it out. He makes cardboard suit of armor and sword, makes some pumpkin bread and heads out.
Upon arrival he is ushered into a abndoned warehouse and attacked and tied to a chair. As it turns out it is actually a muder party, his murder. his attackers are two guys and two girls all claiming to be artists and arguing about the best way to kill their subject. When the ring leader arrives with his drug dealer friend they all are trying to impress him so he will give them a grant for their art. Of course this is where it all starts to unravel for them, lots of drugs and alcohol, and the fact that they are all idiots help move the story right along to the climactic bloody ending that is great. True art is a blood splattered stark white room.
At 74 minutes running time the pace is pretty quick and there is not much lag time in between action scenes or the next mishap by our artists. The special features really show you how much love and enginuity was put into this film. This is a fun movie to watch and if not anything else the costumes worn by our artists that reference other films will have you cracking up. Enjoy boys and girls, and don't go to any strange parties this halloween.
