30 Days Of Night Review

30 Days Of Night is based on a graphic novel of the same title. It is a movie about vampires in an isolated town called Barrow in Alaska. These are the vampires that will give you nightmares. Like human sharks they are going after their prey and it isn't pretty. Graphic, gorey, intense. I loved it. Very chillingly dark, this movie drags you into it as you sit and ponder how to get out of this terrible situation. I caught myself tense and at the edge of my seat several times through this movie.
The atmosphere holds you in its grip and the acting is so very good, you feel the intensity. You see the tears and sweat and fear of the victims. You see the evil leaking from every pore of the nasty vampires. The head vampire is going to give me nightmares! Speaking in foreign tongues and calling out in high pitched shrill sounds un-nerves even the most seasoned of us Horror fans. Tons of blood. This is a totally satisfying movie, much like a rollercoaster it builds up to the cresendo and goes full on.
Camera, music, sound effects, makeup all really well done. I love the way they have to "off" the vampires and the reaction that goes with it. Very good vampire movie, great Halloween-time treat, I suggest you go see it!
