30 Days of Night Review

9 out of 10 Skulls

Yet again, I will just go straight into the review (the synopsis can be found everywhere). Acting:  Josh Hartnett, though never impressing me before, gave a decent performance as the "Hero" in this movie.  A few points seemed flat, but by the end of the movie, I was taken aback.  Melissa George gave a wonderful perfofmance, giving a real feeling to the movie.  The Vampyres (sorry, i spell it differently then y'all) were amazing in their ferocious attacks and creepy way of acting.  I am still having nightmares.

Special FX:  Though the movie was heavy for blood (what Vampyre movie isn't, really?), it was done in an almost artistic manner.  I didn't feel like I was torture porn, but not a disney movie either.  The FX were amazing.  There were a few parts that seemed much to light to be the middle of the night, but at least I could see everything!

Director: This movie was brought together fabulously.  No complaints here.

Cinema: As I said before, I had a slight issue with lighting.  But I rarely get totally engrossed in a film and this is one that I couldn't turn away from.  I'd love to see it again just in case I missed something.

Sound FX/Music:  In the beginning of the film, I felt they were lacking music.  It almost felt hallow for the first five minutes of the film because there was no filler conversations and no music, merely sound from the surroundings.  I am thinking they gave this eerie feeling for a reason, but I just wason't feeling it.  After the first five minutes though, I was too into the movie to even worry about music.  The sound FX were done very well.  Again, I still have nightmares, and the sounds of crunching bone ring in my ears every time.  It's haunting. Over all, this movie is a must see.
