Shaun of the Dead Review
Written by: Ash's missing hand
The movie is a British comedy about two clueless guys whose lives revolve around the pub. The zombies aren't really seen as a threat, but more as an annoyance, getting in the way of valuable drinking time. When it becomes known that London is plagued with zombies, Shaun (Simon Pegg) and Ed (Nick Frost) lead a small group of survivors to the Winchester, the name of the pub they will use as a stronghold.
The irony is that Liz (Kate Ashfield), Shaun's girlfriend, had given him an ultimatum, asking Shaun to choose between her and the pub. She lives with Di (Lucy Davis) and David (Dylan Moran), who think Shaun will choose the pub over Liz. Shaun urges them to barricade the pub. Shaun uses his cricket bat to whack zombies in the head.
The movie was written by Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright, as a send-up of zombie movies. The movie has some good moments but, towards the end, started to run out of steam.
