Species IV - The Awakening Movie Details: DVD, Theatre Date, News, Trailers & More Species: Awakening (Unrated) Movie Review
6 out of 10 Skulls
Written by: prddad

Wow...the fourth one already. I bet H.R. Giger is rolling a fat one right now, quoting JERRY MAGUIRE, "Show Me the Money!!!".

Plot...unlike the previous 3, this involves a hybrid...no, wait, that was in the 3rd one, let's try again. Unlike the previous 3, the creature in this one gets naked...damn, that happened in all of them. Ok, ok, I got it now. Unlike the previous three, this creature starts off normal, but, so save her life, she must undergo a procedure. I won't say what, because then I'll give away the WHHHHHOOOOOLLLLLEEEEE story. Besides, that was the only thing I could think of that WASN'T part of the other three!!! Give me some credit!!!

Acting...Ben Cross...why do director's want him? Everytime I see him in a movie, I want to bitch slap him, tell him to get on stage somewhere, and do HAMLET!!! He is too qualified for this crap. I mean, COME ON!!! This went to the SCI-FI channel!!! Ben...I love ya in FIRST KNIGHT man, that 's still one of my fav's...but this ain't. The other actors/actresses, they played the role as best as possible. But since each character was hollow anyways, I hope they enjoyed the free money...

Nudity...yes, yes, yes. Not porn plentiful, but enough to keep a sick man interested. But, then when you realize that she will eventually turn into a creature with a tongue longer than 6 feet, you sorta lose that urge to fantasize about her anymore...

Gore...SCI-FI channel + gore = too much computer graphics. You could tell (except for one scene, and honestly, I almost got sick...ME???).Bottom line...worth watching? Yes...Worth owning? Not really. Wait for the fifth entry into this series, and then go hunt this down in the dollar bin at Wal-Mart. And yes, I know I ranked it high, but I don't see it as being an "ownable" movie. I won't go back and watch this.
