Jaws(1975) Review

This is my all time second fave horror film and I love everthing about it.  The film came out in 1975 and blew everyone's minds away. It was a huge hit for a young film maker by the name of Steven Spielberg.....ever heard of him before, lol.

The film is about the small island town of Amity during the summer where nothing ever bad takes place until now that there is a 25 foot great white shark feasting on teh good folks there. Chief Brody(Roy Schieder) is a new police chief there with his wife(Lorraine Gray) and 2 little boys. He is alerted one morning that a young teen girl is missing and might have drowned but what he found on the beach was only her torso or what was left of it after the shark got a hold of her at the beginning of the film.

Chief Brody alerts the mayor(Murray Hamilton) and city coucil of the matter and tries to close the beach down but they won't hear any of it cause the summer months are the busiest and money making time for them that is until the shark strikes again and kills a little boy. Now everyone in town is after the shark since a reward has been offered to cathc the shark. Hooper(Richard Dreyfuss) is a marine biologist who is called upon by Chief Brody to help them out. The townsfolk kill and capture a tiger shark but it's not the great white and teh shark strikes yet again killing a boy scout leader.

This time they get a real fisherman and shark killer in Quint(Robert Shaw). So Brody, Quint, and Hooper are off to sea in Quint's boat named the Orca to kill the great white. This where the action really starts to take place when they first see the 25 foot eating machine. Well in the end, Quint ends up as meal for the shark and Chief Brody rescues the day.

This film won oscars for musical score by John Williams and also in film editing. It was also an Academy Award Nomination for Best Picture.

Everything about Jaws was perfect in my book......the characters, the acting, the music, the setting, etc......even Bruce the mechanical shark was awesome.
