Silent Hill Review

8 out of 10 Skulls

A movie based on the Horror action game Silent Hill. The movie captures the darkness, alter-worldliness, creepy, intense drama of the game. A fantastic cast of characters. Direction and camera work excellent. Special effects absolute-ly right on the money. This movie has the gore, not over the top, enough to unsettle you.

They take a mother character, concerned for her daughter and elevate it to Horrorfic heights. The mother and daughter travel to a town of Silent Hill, through fog and ash very much like the game, Rose (the mother, played by Radha Mitchell) must search Silent Hill for her lost daughter and try to piece together what is conspiring. Twisted reality and many other worldly Horror characters try and defeat Rose. Jodelle Ferland is a superb actress, plays the daughter of ROse. Haunting and deperate feelings surround our two main characters.

The nurses in Silent Hill are freaky and scarey, so well done. As is all of the frightening creatures that come after Rose. This movie should be watched in the dark. I am writing this review after watching Silent Hill for the third time. The first I saw in theatres. The more I watch this movie the more I like and enjoy it. Very well done, I hope they come out with a Silent Hill two, different characters, same director Christophe Gans (stayed so true to the Horror flavor of the game).

A special note * They kept the sounds from the game and the eerie music, which is a big plus for the movie. The movie "might" confuse one a little if you have not experianced the game. But watching it with enjoying Horror in mind, I feel you will enjoy this movie as much as I did.
