Aliens Vs. Predator: Requiem Review
Written by: TheResidentEvil
Well, let's just say that i was expecting more and that it barely surpassed the original avp movie. So here is the details:
Acting: The only two people i felt could act in this movie was Dallas and Kelly. The police officer never once changed his facial expressions or tone of voice throughout the movie. I wanted him to die in a gore filled blood bath, but we can't have everything we want. And there was Dallas's younger brother Ricky who went from gimping injured to fine to injured to fine throughout the last half of the movie. Now after what happened to him, we should have seen him bleeding A LOT more and also he probably wouldn't be as bouncy and energetic between his stages of needing help. Yes, i was very frustrated by all of this.
FX: Amazing. I love to tear things apart to see how it works and usually by thinking like that i can see errors or flaws in the way things were done. Well, when the predator goes invisible, it is amazing! And the aliens and predators are well put together (no zippers...hahaha). This was one thing that really kept me in my seat for this movie.
Director: Well, i wish he would have caught the whole Ricky gimp thing. But i think he was a bit preoccupied with the Predalien and the Predator fight to be worrying about the Humans. Alas, what to do.
Sound FX & Music: Pretty good. It really didn't distract from the movie and that is one of my biggest peeves with films. The music and fx were loud enough to add to the scene but not over-power it.
All together I would say wait for this film to become a rental at your nearest McDonald's (it's only a dollar!). I am sure I will buy this movie when it comes out on DVD just to have something to veg out to. But it's definitely not the movie I was expecting. I felt the acting was lacking, the story felt slapped together in a sloppy fashion, and I think the film ended in a really odd way. It felt like they were trying to leave an opening for a sequel but didn't quite make it. And who were those people at the end of the movie? They had too many characters with very little background information on them. It got confusing and convoluted. Thanks for reading, and remember...RENTAL!
