7 Mummies (2006) Review

What to be said about this little known movie...oh, one word: fun. Picture FROM DUSK TILL DAWN, but with zombies & demons. Sounds dumb huh? Yeah, I thought the same, until I started watching it, started seeing actors/actresses who enjoyed their work, and said 'Fuck it, let's rock!'...
Plot...six escaped convicts and a deputy taken hostage go thru the Arizona desert, escaping authorities. They come across an American Indian, who tells them to continue in that direction is the way home, and the oppopsite direction leads to gold. Of course, who wants freedom if you are broke, so they go after the gold. They eventually find a town that looks to have never changed from the late 1800's. It is at this time that the fun starts, and the killing begins when this little innocent town shows it's true self, and the horror comes out...yep, kind of vague at times with this plot thingy, but come on, I can't give that to ya'll!!! This is a fun movie. Helps with the modern music score as well, combination of metal music at times and rap. So yeah, I WANTED TO get in that movie and kill some creatures!!! At times though the plot feels kinda weak, almost like the director (this is his first movie by the way) wasn't sure of where to go, and there are times when you have an adrenallin rush from all the killing, then it just...stops. So as a first timer, he does an excellant job, no one can be perfect...
Acting...ok, this is a good list here of great stars: Matt Schultze (TORQUE, BLADE 2, TRANSPORTER); Cerina Vincent (SASQUATCH MOUNTAIN, mmmm); Billy Wirth (? but doesn't matter, good actor!); Danny Trejo (CON AIR, almost every prison movie he is an inmate I believe :0); Billy Drago (so many, but want a good one: IMPRINT); and the list has even more names than this. How can you lose??? It was a low budget movie that doesn't look the part. Go rent it!!!...
Gore...it has it's moments, some blood splatter, some pieces of flesh ripping off...
Nudity...mmmm, yes. Done in a tasteful manner as well...
CGI...yes, and not tooooo cheesy looking...
Bottom line...why haven't you seen this movie yet!!! Go!!! Go get it!!!
