I Am Legend (2007) Review

Fist of all, i expected alot more from this movie, don't get me wrong it wassent bad i came into this expecting alot out of the next big Will Smith movie. I will say that Smith was the best thing I Am Legend has going for it, his performace was spectacular and moving in my opinion and it garners most of the 7 skulls i give this film.
Robert Neville is a scientist who was unable to stop the spread of the terrible virus that was incurable and man-made. Immune, Neville is now the last human survivor in what is left of New York City and perhaps the world. But he is not alone. Mutant victims of the plague lurk in the shadows... watching Neville's every move... waiting for him to make a fatal mistake. Perhaps mankind's last, best hope, Neville is driven by only one remaining mission: to find a way to reverse the effects of the virus using his own immune blood. But he knows he is outnumbered... and quickly running out of time!
From the opening scene i was a little dissapointed...just a little, i thought the CGI deer running around looked a bit fake but for the most part it was a cool scene, hunting in the middle of New York city driving around in a sweet new mustang, i thought to myself...yeah! thats what i would do too. I was also dissapointed in the kinda dumb looking CGI mutants/infected i really hoped for much more, also i thought the action was kinda few and far between, i found myself looking around the theater several times slightly bored, there was no music really to keep you entertained during the slow parts just what Neville was listening to and it always seemed to be Bob Marley, not to mention the same song! i belive we hear it like two or three times during the movie, don't get me wrong here either Marley is great, but the same song over and over i thought was a bit much.
So what did i like about I Am Legend? Well what made like this movie as much as i did was, like i said before Will's performace was just amazing, he played this character very well. His mood ranged from happy and mostly up-beat to completely mad almost it seemed to me,**SPOILERS** the way he set up the mannequin's all around him to keep him company, and how he lost it when he seen Fred out of his place was very powerful stuff to me.**END SPOILERS** There are also some heart pounding moments that will have you on the edge of your seat, there are also some very touching and heart warming and very sad moments that i thought were very good. The director dident do anything great here but did a alright , The ending was just "fair" for me i liked what happened with Neville but everything after that kinda felt un-nessesary to me, now for what its worth i will pick this movie up on dvd and it was worth a watch, honestly i could have waited till it came to dvd to see it, its not a must to see on the big screen in my opinion
