Visiting Hours(1982) Review
Written by: RIP
Visiting Hours is definitely an underrated slasher style film from the early 80's that doesn't get that much attention that I think it should. The film came out in 1982 and has a good cast in it with the likes of Lee Grant(from Damien: Omen 2), William Shatner(from Star Trek), Linda Purl(from tv's Happy Days), Lenore Zann(from Happy Birthday to Me), and Michael Ironside(from Scanners).
The film is about a tv news reporter who has done a story on a battered woman who killed her husband in self defense and as a reporter she has become so involved with the story and politics of women's rights and she ends up pissing off a serial killer whose own mother hurt his father pretty when he was a child.
So the psycho stalks her after work and ends up killing her maid and then beats and slashes her with his switchblade knife and thinks that he killed her til he sees that she survived the terror on the nightly news. So he starts stalking the hospital and is actually very clever in ways to get into the hospital past the guards and stuff like that.
There's not a whole lot fo kills in it.....I think there was like maybe 5 overall but I really did enjoy this film. Michael Ironside does an outstanding job as the stalker Colt Hawker. Also the hospital settting in this film was really cool and the poster art for the film was neat too from the 80's with a skull lights on the hospital.
Also, you might notice Neil Affleck from My Bloody Valentine in Visiting Hours in a small cameo scene as a cop walking Linda Purl to her car.
I give this film a 8 outta 10.
