Day of the Dead 2008 Review

SPOILERS AHEAD.....WOW is what I gotta say. This was a better then i expected but it was still pointless.sad and a complete waste of time money and skill. I somewhat enjoyed this "remake". But mostly I hated it. I mean come on seriously was the writer drunk while writing this? Was the director Stever Miner Drunk while filming this!?!?! What the fuck was this movie suppose to be? It is the same story with DOTD2 if it wasnt under the name DOTD it would have been alot better. IF this movie wasnt a remake of it would have been better.
The movie is about a town that gets sick from the flu or some new form of the flu that turns u into a vicous "man eating dog". (Ill explain later in the review). A few survirors fight for their lives and get into some sort of underground compound. (i guess thats where the remake is). U will hear alot that i hate bout this movie. I didnt like alot of things.
First the "ZOMBIES" I called them "man eating dog" because thats how they acted. They fucking barked at you!! what the hell is that?? That is not the classic Day of the Dead that we all know and love. These zombies didnt die they were just in shock and then started barking and got deformed some how with what looked like burns rotting cuts and gashs that looked like they were already dead and rotting. Stupid Stupid Stupid idea is the crawling on the walls like your spiderman!!! Take Air Bud spiderman the worst zombie movie ever and u get this film. The zombies turn into ash when their burnt. The jump like spider man like ten feet in the air, they bark like air bud.
BUB the classic zombie in the original is now called BUD and is a vegetarian zombie?......let that sink in for a bit......NOW I KNOW THAT JEFFERY RIDDICK WAS DRUNK OR HIGH ON SOMETHING WHILE WRITING THIS!!! He tried to pull the shot the badguy near the end skit but ended up getting his head ripped off. HE tried to pull off the great BUB but failed as so the movie itself.
The acting sucked by most of the cast. Even Ving didnt do the best he can with this movie. They tried to be funny too with a few lame jokes in there every now and again. I didnt feel the chaoz either. With The Dawn remake i felt the chaoz of runnign away from the zombies in the suburbs that was pretty kool. The view from the helicopter seeing the truck slam that car and explode was a great way to show that there was alot going on. They should have gotten James Gunn to at least write the Day remake cuz I think he would have did a fantastic job with it.
CGI sucked, alot of the gore was CGI or looked fake. The blood looked like that cheap crappy blood that K-mart sells during Halloween. I guess going and getting Red food Dye and Corn Syrup is too hard. For a zombie movie it was sad for the lack of good gore there wasnt one thing that i will remember from this film.
Steve Miner sucked at this movie. He directed a few films that i enjoy still today Friday the 13th 2 and 3 Halloween H20, Lake Placid but what the hell happened with this one!?!?! I still think he was drunk, high or maybe wasnt getting enough from the wife I dunno but it really should he didnt do his job correctly. I hated the fast motioned movements of the zombies, it looked soo fake and stupid. The sound effects were horrible, they recorded dog noises and put them in the film. The guns shots were weak.
Overall my rant bout this movie, I never scene a gunshop carry the guns that they got. At least where I live they dont sell big ass MPGs like that maybe its different in some places. What soldier doesnt have a loaded gun? They never explained why she didnt. I hated the way they explained this virus and used the government experiment BS thats a mood killer for me. They are underground for like the last 15 20 mins of the film which was pointless cuz they left and drove off into the woods and then what do u see a zombie pop out after the radio told them the mess is all cleaned up. See where our tax dollars are going? Leaving this wide open for a DAY of the DEAD 3??
What I liked about this movie was that I saw Nick Cannon Die and he even sucked at that too. Thats all I liked it I have seen worse zombie movies then this but this was a horrible remake the worst and makes Michael Bay look like the king of remakes. Atleast with Michael Bay he lives up to the original somehow. Im not a huge Michael Bay hater but he should really move on to his own original projects then remakes. Stay away from this one if u know ur gonna hate it watch it online if ur curious dont give any more money to these bastards.
