Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978) Review

I will start by saying as far as creepyness this film is the mother of all alien invasion films, just think a tiny organism invading our bodys and taking over the human race, its totally beliveable to me, maybe i have a wild imagination but i refuse to walk through life blind. Next time your outside late at night look up and ask yourself what do i see, i will tell you, thats infinity and to think we are alone in the work is just ludacris.
Now that i am done ranting and raving lets talk about the movie, and let me start by saying i have never seen the original from 1956. This particular Invasion follows a decent cast of characters and actors, we have Donald Sutherland who plays Matthew Bennel a health inspector, Brooke Adams who plays his good friend and co-worker, and she is quite lovely i mite add. We also see Jeff Goldblum who plays Jack and Leonard Nimoy as Dr. David Kibner, all in all a good cast i think, Sutherlands performance was spectacular and the rest held there own also.
This remake was directed by Philip Kaufman who did a pretty good job helming this film, some scenes inparticular were better than others but it was overall shot very well, he set a good creepy mood where it was needed and there are some very memorable shots in the film (take the very end for example) creating a terrific blend of sci-fi and horror. The music was not the best but is very effective in certain parts were its needed most, it definataly builds the suspence and tension well. The characters as i said are all fairly interesting and the dialoge is all written very well.
As an added little bonus there is a couple gory moments and the special effects were done well for this period (1978), this is definatly not a gorehounds dream but i was pleaseantly surprised by it . To me this movie is classic and a must see for horror and sci-fi fans alike, great film!
