Halloween (1978) Review

This is a classic movie. No horror buff can truely call themselves a horror fan unless they have seen or own this movie. This movie inspired films throughout the 80s and has been reconized as one of the best horror movies to have been made in the past 40 years.
This movie is directed by John Carpenter. John Carpenter is one of the best. Simply put, this movie is directed very great. They way this movie looks and feels fits perfectly with the atmosphere of the movie iteslf. Most of the night shots have a blue back light which really adds to the psychological terror. There are also many other tricks used by Carpenter that really help with telling this story. This movie has very little blood in it, which proves that Carpenter can tell a story, without having to use cheap tricks and gimics to scare the people watching the movie.
Another thing that makes this movie great is Carpenter's musical score. The music one of the most famous in horror history. It sets the mood of the movie perfectly. Not since Psycho has there been such a great title track used so well.
The acting is another thing that makes this movie great. Jamie Lee Curtis and Donald Pleasence are some of the best actors in a horror movie. Donald Pleasence is unexplainable. I can't really even tell you how good he is in this movie. The way he handles dialog and turns a scene into a creepfest is awsome.
I can't really tell you how good this movie is. This movie almost flawless.
