The Descent focuses around a group of girlfriends, who apparently explore underground caves and taverns as a hobby. When their exploration goes wrong, and they are lost within the cave it becomes clear there is more to fear than the dark....

I have heard many great things about The Descent, both on here and from some of my friends. I must admit it was a good movie. It was very chilling, fast paced, and pretty damn disturbing.

One of the things I enjoyed most about this movie is that it is realistic. It's not predictable, or far fetched. It really pulls you in you feel the tension, you imagine the character's pain, just watching it makes you feel claustrophobic  I also loved the female empowerment. We all know the horror movie cliché. Girls running rampant, screaming their heads off. It’s nice when a movie gives the females a chance to shine and fight back. These girls were not idiots. They were smart, they were tough, they fought tooth and nail to stay alive.

The conflict is part of what makes this movie so interesting. You actually root for the characters to stay alive and you actually care what happens to them. My hat goes off to the UK for this one.

My only complaint with this movie is that camera work. During the action packed scenes the camera work was pretty poor. It was hard to see what was going on, but other than that this movie was great.
