Lake Dead (Afterdark Horrorfest) Review

Although this synopsis has been, and is being, used in so many horror flicks these days, I enjoyed Lake Dead – for the most part.  The creepy twins and their messed up family were cool even though they reminded me a little of the Hewitt family from Texas Chainsaw.  There was some first-rate gore throughout the film with kills that were fairly original. 

The brutal rape and torture scenes were good and traumatizing.  The pace of the movie was great until the end.  It seemed like the ending of the film took forever!  Almost like they ran out of story but had to meet the hour-and-a-half time minimum.  The acting was decent, and the look and feel of the film was crisp and wasn’t an obvious low-budget attempt.  I gave this movie 3 out of 5 hairy eyeballs.
